Bible Passages Relating to Abortion

Genesis 9:3,5

Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. Job 1:21b

When Job lost all of his property and the lives of his children, he conceded that the life that each of his children had was a gift of God and was God’s to give and take.”The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised” (Job 1:21b)

Exodus 1:15-17

The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah, “When you help the Hebrew women in childbirth and observe them on the delivery stool, if it is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.” The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live.

“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.”

(IF HATE IS MURDER, CAN ABORTION BE ANYTHING LESS?)

Exodus 23:7

Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty. (May want to include the one innocent who was made sin – 2 Corinthians 5:21)

Genesis 4:10

The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.” (Whether Cain hid or buried his brother, Abel, God knew that human blood was shed, a life was taken. Murder, in whatever form it takes, cries out to God for justice.)
