Where to Live?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Texas doubled down on protecting unborn life, and Delaware is doubling down on making abortions easier. Where would you live? The answer is harder than you think.

Both sides of the abortion debate agree that a child’s life is lost. The abortion-rights argument creates a classification called “personhood” and denies the unborn child of that qualification. Therefore, the child’s life is subordinate to the mother’s wishes.

This redefinition of human life repudiates the Author of life. When God holds unborn life accountable for sin (Psalm 51:5) and offers his own Son as the Savior, who are we to say otherwise? Job couldn’t even question God about why he does things (Job 38-41). What gives us the right to redefine the value of life in light of its Creator and Redeemer?

All the more reason to leave Delaware? Not so fast.

God observed:

I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, (Exodus 20:5)

It seems cruel to punish children for the sins of the parents, but look closely. It is a heritage and culture of God-hatred. Jesus observed:

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. (Luke 6:45)

The problem is the heart. The solution is not for everyone to move to Texas or any state that has not “bowed down to Baal” (1 Kings 19:18) in regard to these important moral issues. The solution for Delaware is people who know better and are willing to speak up both for the unborn children and especially for the misguided souls of people who would abort them.

It calls for followers of Jesus to bring truth to the generation blinded by lies. You don’t fight the forces of evil with weapons of the world. It takes gladiators armed with God’s word (Ephesians 6:14-17). It may be strategic to pass laws and vote for candidates. It is courageous to step before the enemies of God with a Christ-like demeanor to love them and share with them the truth, regardless of the reception. It takes God-fearing neighbors who love enough to make a difference.
